New ski-centre project ‘Iskrovete – Govedartsi – Maliovitsa’

New ski-centre project in Rila Mountain, with the co-operation of Samokov municipality is going to get ahead of the ‘Super Borovets’ Project. Until the autumn, the state lands are going to be transferred and the observation of the impact on the environment should be done.
The project is called ‘Iskrovete – Govedartsi – Maliovitsa’. It foresees the construction of small villa areas, along the villages of Madjare, Mala Tsarkva and Govedartsi, where from the lifts will take the tourists up to Mechit and Maliovitsa Peaks. The tourist will be able to ski down to the cosy villas itself!
The idea for the project came in 2004, simultaneously wit the ‘Super Borovets’ Project; however it was approved last year. On 20th February 2006, the City Council in Samokov approved the offer of ‘Em El Impeks’ company, property of the local businessman Hristo Kovachki for the foundation of a corporation, which will work out a structural plan and ecological evaluation of the complex to be built. In addition, it will candidate for concession of state properties and to acquire lands, on which the ski facilities will be constructed.
The municipality and the company ‘Em El Impeks’ founded a new limited liability company ‘Nadar 2006’, they have equal shares there, 50% each. It is anticipated that this will change and ‘Em El Impeks’ will take 75% later, while the municipality will remain with the rest 25%.
Hristo Kovachki’s company is approved before three other companies by the City Council.

Priorities
The relief above Govedartsi offers perfect conditions for ski sport, and the locals claim that they are even better than the one Borovets offer. There is more snow and it preserves longer.
The ski-runs are going to be on the North slopes and the villas on the South ones. Another very important fact is that the terrains which will be used for ski-runs are not planted and it means that there will be no cutting down of age-old trees.
Nearby you will find the famous Rila Lakes and the Rila Monastery.
Members of the City Council say that there is a local investor ready to support the project.
The initial idea is to build villa zone on 20 000 – 30 000 sq. m. building area, with its own purification station and a small water-electric plant and a mineral pool.
